In October 2015, Assistant Chief Daniel Garcia retired from the Fort Worth Police Department, after more than 25 years of service to the community. His duties included oversight of the Patrol Bureau, which makes up the uniformed patrol services, traffic and aviation function for the department. In January 2016, Chief Garcia became the security coordinator at Ft. Worth ISD, and was assigned to coordinate and staff all athletic and special events at Fort Worth ISD with Police Officers to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors. In September 2017, Chief Garcia became the law enforcement director at Ft. Worth ISD, responsible for all operations within FWISD related to all Law Enforcement activity, to include police security for all sporting and special events as well as the School Resource Officer Program. The following year he was named as Safety and Security Director at FWISD.
